Another busy week has come and gone, nothing extraordinary has happened but when I think about the beauty behind each breath and the gift of each one, I’m reminded that every single one of those “un-extraordinary moments” is actually quite extraordinary. A rather heavy way to start a blog I know, but it was just something that popped into my mind when I wrote the words “nothing extraordinary.” I must admit I was instantly filled with a sense of regret that I had not lived each of those moments this past week with a sense of gratitude. It can be really tough to live with the kind of gratitude that God deserves on a daily basis especially as a student whether you’re in graduate school, college or high school. It’s true what people say, the years you spend in college can definitely be some of the most fun of your life (obviously I haven’t lived past college yet, so I’m not really an authority on this topic, but I can see how it could be true, at least it has been for me thus far), but if you’re anything like me it’s easy to feel like things are being thrown at you constantly and you’re always torn with the decision of whether you should stop and catch the thing or duck and run in the opposite direction of the projectiles. I just got off the phone with one of my dear friends from back home (yes, it is possible to keep in touch with friends from home in college, you just have to make the effort) we’ve been friends for about 13 or 14 years now so the older we get we often have moments of reminiscing as we just did not 45minutes ago. We were talking about the things that we’d been learning lately and the different things that God has been revealing to us about ourselves, and one of the things that she and I both struggle with so much is time management, wanting to glorify God in all we do but often feeling so torn as we’re both very committed to a lot of things. It was neat because this topic led us into a good discussion about how we could each work on our attitude even in the things that may overwhelm us at times. I’m so blessed to have those people in my life who hold me accountable in that way, and it also helps just to know that I’m not the only person who struggles with being caught up in the commitments of daily life. I guess it’s a constant part of growing. Sorry for how random and serously lacking this post may be as far as entertaining qualities may be concerned, but I hope that it gets you thinking.
