CAMP!!!

June 17th, 2009

This week our team is serving  at a camp being held at liberty baptist church on the outskirts of Orlando, Florida.  I would first like to say that it is almost uncomfortably hot here, however, the people are amazing, the palm trees are relaxing, and air conditioning is one of the most amazing things on the whole planet.

The first day of camp was incredible!  We started the day with a delicious breakfast consisting of pancakes, bacon, and fresh fruit.  Then we did our worship set, followed by a message from pastor Vern.  After we ate lunch we hit the games pretty hard.  First we had an outdoor obstacle course, which I’m excited to say that the “Mystic Blue Mountain Beavers” (my team for the week) won the event with flying colors :) After that we proceeded to fill water balloons, lots of them.  Little did we know that these water balloons wouldn’t be for throwing, no… these water balloons were used as projectiles, fired out of ginormous slingshots at approximately mach 2 speed.  Needless to say, they hurt when they hit.  After the water balloon adventure, which the “Sea Foam Green” team won… the guys on my team thought it neccesary to dump the entire 30 gallons of water where the balloons were being stored, right on my head… words do not describe how soaking wet I was…

We are all having such a great time at this camp, but the fun and games aren’t all of it.  The message tonite was about David and Goliath, and about how we each have giants in our lives that we need to overcome.  We discussed how the only way to overcome these giants and struggles was with the help of our Savior.  It was a great reminder to us that over the summer we are going to have a lot of fun, but no matter how much fun we have, we will face our giants.  The only way to make it through is to trust 100% in the Lord, and rely on him and not ourselves.

I just wanted to say what a great impression your team made on my daughter Julie (the one with the pretty eyes)(per colby).
we only meet on sunday – during the volleyball games – but it’s wednesday now and she is still letting everyone know that she shared her fruit slices with colby.
if i had a way to get her there she would have been. Both her and jimmy have asked to go to liberty on sunday.
Gods blessing with every step you take.

    sincerely

I loved iLift camp this past week! You guys were amazing. I enjoyed watching all of you get into the music and each grinnin’ and jumpin’. Colby was great to talk to, Hayden did great on the rare occasion of playing the bass while he was sick, Taylor sang amazingly (and has a sweet guitar, by the way), Brittany and Alise moved each of us with their voices, Christy played some wicked keyboard, and Ryan was great when he got all into the drum solo. 8] You guys are amazing and keep up the great work. I hope to listen to you again some time in the near future! Stay awesome and don’t forget; we kids LOVE talkin’ to y’all. Interrupt any of us at any time. We love it!
