LiFT Week #1 – Prayer

June 26th, 2009
lift2
Heartsong is spending the week in Harrisonburg, Virginia on the beautiful campus of Eastern Mennonite University.  We’ve finally caught up with LiFT camp and are so excited to be ministering with them for the rest of the summer.  Here this week, there are almost 800 teens ranging in age from entering sixth grade to just graduated from high school.  We’re having a blast hanging out with them and prompting worship in the morning and evening services.
It was especially exciting to have the privilege of being a part of last night’s service.  Each student and staff member had filled out a card listing the heaviest weight on their heart, a prayer for their youth group or church, and a prayer request for their future.  The anonymous cards were then handed out amongst all attending.  As the service progressed, time was allotted to pray over each request, with Heartsong facilitating worship through music between each one.  The whole point was that each and every student’s request was being personally lifted up that night.  After an extended period of prayer, our speaker for the week, Tony Nolan, came and spoke about the power of prayer, challenging the students to ask and expect big things of God.  The whole night was incredible, with several students choosing to start a relationship with God throughout the night.  One student in particular had written on his card that he had doubts about his salvation, and his prayer was gloriously answered as he committed his life to Christ!
We’re excited to finish out the week strong, celebrating more than 80 students who have come to know Jesus in a personal way this week – and that’s not even including rededications and other commitments.  It’s been awesome to start serving alongside the LiFT staff and being able to encourage and be encouraged by them.  It’s going to be a great summer serving students across the country and watching God work powerfully in their lives.  This weekend we head to Arkansas and will pick up with LiFT again there on Monday!
Thankful for your prayers,
Alise

We at Eastern Mennonite University were grateful for the opportunity to host the LiFT group again this year. What a wonderful group of young people! We are thankful our campus provided a good space for this time of rest, recreation and worship together. Blessings to each of you as you scatter today (Friday) for your home communities. May you take with you renewed commitment to your walk with Jesus and good memories of your time at EMU.

Just wanted to tell heartsong that iLift camp was incredible. The worship time was awesome. It’s great to see you worshiping God as clearly as you do! I’ve done a lot of traveling in my fairly short life and I know it can be stressful, traveling many-many-many miles with a group of people no matter how much you like them without some amount of…disagreemet arising:D don’t let it get to you or between you! Im sure it was all much more complicated to get everything set up and ready than it looked to us attending camp. Things always look more simple to the ones who didn’t have to do the work! But in case you didn’t hear this already a thousand times, you were realy appreciated!

    Keep pluging away!
