Chloe’s First Week

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Hello from Heartsong Generation Red Team! We’ve officially completed our training week, first week of tour and first weekend at a church! Training week was a new experience for me to be with all of the HeartSong teams at Cedarville at the same time. You can check out some of Red Team’s experiences on our video blog: (see attached link). One of my favorite things about that was our “dress rehearsal” on Thursday night. After we had been practicing like crazy for a few days we all took turns going to listen to each other give a 15-minute set of music. And what started out as a time of evaluation quickly turned into a night of worship. It was an unforgettable night!

After saying good bye to Blue and Green Team, our team and Orange team set up to get ready for worship camp on Monday! This was my first year doing worship camp so I didn’t’ really know what to expect. But by the end of the week, I was so excited for the kids in my band to be able to play what they had practiced and worked so hard on!

Michael, Zac and Chloe’s band: Latreia!! AWESOME group of talented kids ☺

We were all challenged by Jim and Dr. O’Neel in the daily sessions as we learned what it means to be a worshipper, and on the last night of camp it was amazing to see the kids apply what they had been learning, and to see them get so excited about worshipping the Lord together. Dr. O’Neel took some really awesome pictures that you can see on Facebook to get a visual picture of what we did during the week! (see attached link to worship pictures?)

It’s been incredible to see how God has been working in ways beyond what we could ask or imagine already in the lives of campers, and our team members. Please keep us in your prayers as we head to Camp CHOF today to spend a week with a ton of awesome junior-highers and staff members!
Talk to you soon!

Another Beginning

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Hello everyone! I’m riding in the team van on our way to the next destination of summer tour with Heartsong Blue. Though we have been on the road for just a few days, I have already had so many great experiences with church families and in host homes that have encouraged both me and my team. This summer will certainly be a great blessing to me as we spread the love of Christ through our music.
I feel so fortunate to be on the road this summer as a member of Heartsong, as I originally had no plans to travel this summer. This past school year, I was a member of Heartsong Generation Yellow team, which travels during the school year but has no commitments during the summer months. After my time with Yellow team ended, I planned to return home at the end of spring semester with the hope of finding a job to help pay for my college expenses. The previous summer, I worked at a meat processing plant on second shift as a member of the plant’s sanitation crew. Though this work was not the most desirable job, it helped make financial ends meet, so I planned to return to a life of late nights wearing a haz-mat suit. This time, however, what I had planned were not the plans that God had intended for me.
Just a few weeks before I moved home for the summer, the Spirit of God began a work in my heart that prepared me mentally and emotionally to be ready to go on tour with Heartsong. With less than three weeks before the semester’s end, I was approached by the Heartsong directors about traveling during the summer with Heartsong Blue. And though the transition and preparation to travel happened so quickly, I was able to trust God’s plan for me and for the ministry of Heartsong through the whole situation. I will miss my family and friends while I am on the road this summer, but their support and sacrifices for me will go with me everywhere I travel.
Though we are only one week into the tour, I have already enjoyed our ministry so much and am so excited for the rest of the summer. I have instantly bonded with my new teammates both spiritually and musically. It has been great so far and I know it will only get better! God has worked in my life to get me to this point, and I know that He will continue to work the rest of the summer for His glory. I can’t wait to see what He does!
In Christ,
Colin
