OneVoice Barn Party
Thursday, October 29th, 2009On Sunday, October 11th, OneVoice and friends gathered in Dr. Carl Ruby’s barn for an evening of worship, food, and fellowship. Dr. Ruby is our Vice President of Student Life and it was his idea to have this annual gathering for the choir. Honestly, I thought it would be hard to top last years’ experience but God showed up in a mighty way!
After enjoying pizza, chicken wings, donuts and apple cider, the band and members of ensemble began to lead our time of worship. It was just like a rehearsal, except we were outside and surrounded by friends of the choir.
I played percussion and sang soprano in the ensemble. It was awesome to look out into the crowd and see everyone truly worshipping in spirit and in truth. People from different cultures and backgrounds were gathered together praising the Lord in their own way; some jumping, others crying, some kneeling, others with hands in the air…the way the Body of Christ is supposed to look.
After we sang a few worship songs, we had a time of prayer. We split up into groups of four or five and prayed over each other and the ministry of the choir. This was probably my favorite part of the evening because it allowed us to really get to know each other. With a choir as big as OneVoice it’s easy to go four years without really knowing many people. But, it’s during these times, that you can get to know people and connect with them in prayer.
That’s why I love OneVoice, we are so much more than a choir, we are a family
