From rodent behavior to researching vaccine hesitancy, our faculty are making a difference!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our faculty at CUSOP published an article on utilizing an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S1551741121003168?fbclid=IwAR0VCRUjsgqC6T_QZmyWnqo25a_-nBQt2BtIvIWNPRxE_ciKhzjacnuL_MM\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">academic success tool <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for pharmacy students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aleda Chen, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, and Dr. Justin Cole, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, published articles addressing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pharmacytimes.com\/view\/addressing-vaccine-hesitancy-among-health-care-workers\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">vaccine hesitancy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> among healthcare workers and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0264410X22001141?via%3Dihub\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">children.<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Tim Veenstra, Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Pharm.D. students from CUSOP are finding new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mms.tveyes.com\/MediaCenterPlayer.aspx?u=aHR0cDovL21lZGlhY2VudGVyLnR2ZXllcy5jb20vZG93bmxvYWRnYXRld2F5LmFzcHg%2FVXNlcklEPTIzMjQxNCZNRElEPTE2MDUxMTQ4Jk1EU2VlZD0zOTA3JlR5cGU9TWVkaWE%3D\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">benefits in tropical fruit<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Zach Jenkins, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, was part of a team that published an evaluation of how <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/accpjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/jac5.1541\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">antimicrobial pharmacokinetics<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are taught to pharmacy students across the United States.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drs. Elisha Injeti, Rocco Rotello, and Tim Veenstra, Associate Professors of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Cedarville\u2019s School of Pharmacy, wanted to test how useful <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.klove.com\/news\/health\/when-offered-free-uv-ray-sanitizing-students-didnt-choose-masks-they-uved-their-phones-26251\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a public UV sanitizing station<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would be to the general public.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Elisha Injeti, Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and his research collaborators have published an article titled &#8220;A research update: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1Jf5NYOVfkgnFIE2tUp57Y4AHblhJtPPc\/view\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Significance of cytokine storm and diaphragm in COVID-19&#8243;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Current Research in Pharmacology and Drug Discovery journal (Volume 2, 2021). In this article, the authors reviewed the effects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in triggering cytokine storm, and its resultant impact on skeletal muscle with a specific focus on the diaphragm as their research on skeletal muscle atrophy came to a stop last year due to COVID-19 lockdown.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. McKenzie Grinalds, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, published a manuscript on the use of a tool to help pharmacists identify and address <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/journalpatientsafety\/Abstract\/2021\/12000\/High_Alert_Medication_Stratification_Tool_Revised.140.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">high-alert medications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drs. Melissa Beck, Denise Jean-Louis, and Samson Amos, Associate Professors of Pharmaceutical Sciences collaborated with a team of students to determine the impact of an herbal product with anti-tumorigenic capacity on rodent behavior.\u00a0 This study will be presented in poster format at the American Association for Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP Annual Meeting in July.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cedarville.edu\/center-for-pharmacy-innovation\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Center for Pharmacy Innovation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> regularly posts content on their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cedarville.edu\/disruptive-healthcare\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">disruptive healthcare blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and new trends in pharmacy practice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"School of Pharmacy faculty members are actively engaged in research that is advancing the field of pharmacy.
