This fall, we lost two former faculty members, Dr. Sarah Smith and Professor Alex Camacho, who each succumbed to long physical ailments. They each bravely fought physical adversity, and no doubt heard those cherished words, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” as they are now with the Lord. We were blessed, students and faculty, with the sharing of their gifts, their lives, and their struggles.

Dr. Sarah Smith was a living testimony to the power of God to sustain a Christian. She had a myriad of health difficulties, and one of her sons preceded her in death. Yet her constant refrain was how good God had been to her. She praised him for her loving husband, her sons, her church support, and her colleagues and students at Cedarville University. She almost single-handedly led our initial accreditation efforts as well as our re-affirmation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). She retired this past spring with the rank of Associate Professor Emerita. She will be sorely missed.

Professor Alex Camacho was a fixture in the School of Business Administration since 2012, with a passion for Jesus Christ and marketing. His contagious smile and deep genuine affection for everyone he came into contact with was noticed by all. And his resting in the grace of Jesus Christ, and continually testifying of that grace right until the end, was a model for our students. He loved golf, good food, and spending time with students. We will miss him greatly.
