Learn More About the Songwriting Minor and Classes for Fall 2025

Are you passionate about songwriting? Cedarville’s Department of Music and Worship, in collaboration with Cedarville Worship Publishing, invites students to explore the Songwriting Minor or enroll in individual songwriting courses starting fall 2025.
Songwriting Minor Overview
The 18–19 credit songwriting minor is designed for students who want to develop their craft and understanding of songwriting. The four core songwriting courses follow a two-year cycle that will begin again in fall 2025.
To get started, students must enroll in SWMU-2100 Fundamentals of Songwriting, offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 p.m. this fall. Additional courses in the sequence will be available through spring 2027.

Fall 2025
- SWMU 2100 – Fundamentals of Songwriting
- THMU 1210* – Music Theory 1 (or THMU 1250 below)
Spring 2026
- SWMU 2500 – Worship Songwriting
- THMU 1250* – Contemporary Musicianship 1 (or THMU 1210 above)
Fall 2026
- SWMU 3100 – Professional Aspects of Songwriting
- TYMU 2510 – Introduction to Digital Music Production
Spring 2027
- SWMU 4900 – Senior Songwriting Seminar
- TYMU 2520 – Music Production Techniques
*Students must take either THMU 1210 or THMU 1250. A placement test or completion of THMU 1010 (offered fall 2025) is required before enrolling in these courses.
