Over the holiday season, Campus Safety and Fire Department officials will be coming through all of the residence halls to conduct fire safety inspections. These inspections will cover every area of the facility, including your dorm room. To eliminate violations, please remember to ensure that the following conditions are present prior to leaving for the holiday. These are usually the most common problems that are found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Do not substitute extension cords for a surge-protected power strip that is plugged directly into an outlet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Use only surge-protected power strips or multi-plug units. Make sure that it says somewhere on your devices that they are surge-protected or have an on\/off switch with a reset button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Do not interconnect or daisy chain power strips together.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
