Dear Faculty, Staff, Students, and Parents:
As the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues and concerns have increased, we want to communicate information on how we are monitoring and preparing for any potential impact to our campus community.
First and foremost, we have had no reported cases of Coronavirus in or around the Cedarville campus nor in the state of Ohio at this time.
Second, Cedarville prepares proactively for situations of this nature and has a campus pandemic preparedness and response plan in place that addresses prevention, care, communication, and safety measures as well as the many academic and student support implications that could arise in any situation like this.
Our team is continually reviewing this plan and is updating in light of the most recent Coronavirus data and communication available from the CDC as well as our local Greene County Health Department. Further, senior leadership has been participating on regular conference calls with the governor’s office to ensure our preparation aligns with the State’s recommended protocols.
Out of an abundance of caution, we are suspending all official University travel to or through any areas that are under a Level 3 travel advisory for Coronavirus until April 30. As of the writing of this email, the Level 3 countries are: China, South Korea, Italy, and Iran. Summer missions trips will be reevaluated in the coming weeks to determine the wisdom of continuing to plan for trips to affected areas. None of our spring break Global Outreach trips traveled to or through Level 2 or Level 3 travel advisory areas.
Between now and April 30, if anyone personally travels to an area with a Level 2 or higher travel advisory related to the Coronavirus, we will require a 14-day self-quarantine period. Faculty and staff, please notify Human Resources at 937-766-7885, if this applies to you or if you are aware of someone else’s travel (e.g. a student) that falls into this category. Students should contact the Dean of Students office at 937-766-7995 for notification regarding travel to and from Level 2 or higher areas.
We will continue to monitor the situation and share regular updates and resources with our campus community.
