New COVID-19 Website With Resources and Information

March 9, 2020 |

Welcome back from Spring Break! We are glad to have you back on campus and are excited to see how God will work among us in the coming weeks. With national attention keenly focused on the COVID-19 situation, I have appointed Lt. Gen. Loren Reno (Ret.), a 38-year veteran of the United States Air Force who now serves as Professor of Management and Advisor to the President at Cedarville University, to lead Cedarville’s COVID-19 planning efforts. He will work with offices across campus to coordinate our preparation and potential response, should the need arise. As of this morning, there were no known cases of COVID-19 in the state of Ohio.

During his celebrated military career, Reno was the Air Force’s senior logistician with policy oversight and budget advocacy for maintainers, logisticians, civil engineers, and security forces. He led small and large organizations doing maintenance, repair and overhaul for jet engines and large military aircraft; supply chain management; jet fuel acquisition and distribution; and operational aircraft maintenance. We are blessed to have a man of his godly character and proven experience to take on this assignment.

The focus of our efforts right now is careful preparation and prevention. We have created a new website that will be used to send updates and provide resources for our campus community.

Now is the time to remind ourselves of the common sense recommendations that will help prevent the spread of a virus like COVID-19, colds and flu. As an example, you should clean all high-touch surfaces regularly (e.g., phones, countertops, keyboards, doorknobs, etc.) Be sure to review the latest Cedarville travel guidelines, and use the resource website to find answers to frequently asked questions.

Students, if you were to experience specific symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath), please call the University Medical Services Nurse Line at 937-766-7863 right away to receive advice about what to do. Faculty and staff, please call your primary care doctor’s office.

In the future, all updates about Cedarville’s response to the COVID-19 situation will be posted to Please subscribe to the blog to ensure you are notified as soon as an update is posted. Faculty, staff, and students, we will also send an email alerting you that new information is available.

While we plan carefully and pray for those affected, this COVID-19 outbreak provides an unprecedented opportunity for believers to show a watching world the hope found only in Jesus Christ. May we be found faithful!

In Christ,
