April 13 Update: Financial Aid Awards, COVID-19 Treatment Options, and Fall Registration

April 13, 2020 |

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Today’s updates include financial aid packages for returning students, a presentation discussing treatment options for COVID-19, help for navigating the online learning environment, additional move-out dates, registering for fall semester, avoiding spiritual carelessness, and tomorrow in chapel.

Financial Aid Packages – Financial Aid will begin sending out 2020-21 financial aid packages to continuing students today. Watch your email for a notification that your awards are ready to view at selfservice.cedarville.edu. In an effort to be as flexible as possible in these days, no students will lose their Cedarville academic scholarship for next school year as a result of poor academic performance this spring. The Financial Aid office stands ready to assist those who may have experienced severe economic impact as a result of the Coronavirus. We want to make sure you succeed in your educational pursuits and will help as we can. Please email finaid@cedarville.edu if you have aid-related questions.

Weekly COVID-19 School of Pharmacy UpdateWatch as infectious disease expert Dr. Zach Jenkins, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, provides an update on the latest news on the interleukin receptor inhibitors used to treat patients with COVID-19.

Navigating the Online Learning Environment – Students, if you are struggling with the online learning environment, sign up to be matched with a Peer Academic Guide, a service from The Cove. With a goal to help you finish strong this semester, this academic guide will work one-on-one with you to help you stay motivated and accountable to complete tasks and provide support for navigating learning online. To request a Peer Academic Guide, email The Cove at thecove@cedarville.edu.

Residence Hall Move Out – We have added additional move-out dates during May, and there are slots available this week for those who are able to travel.

Fall RegistrationRegistration remains open for all continuing students. Before registering for your fall classes, undergraduate students should gain their advisor’s approval, and all students will need to sign the Financial Responsibility Agreement in CedarInfo. When these steps have been completed, students need to log into their Student Planning account to complete the registration process.

Spiritual Carelessness – Dr. White preached through the final verses in the book of Nehemiah this morning, bringing his Faithful series to a near conclusion. Today’s message encouraged us to watch out for spiritual carelessness. If you missed it, watch it now. Next Monday, Dr. White will bring closing thoughts from Nehemiah.

The article states –“In an effort to be as flexible as possible in these days, no students will lose their Cedarville academic scholarship for next school year as a result of poor academic performance this spring.” I see that this is for returning students. What about incoming students? Will they lose their scholarships due to 4th quarter grades? I have a student who is very concerned.

If incoming students have already been awarded a scholarship, it will not be rescinded if the final high school GPA is lower.
