In seasons of success, we should double down in dependence upon God.
In this article, I want to address one part of our goal to pursue becoming a more prayerful campus. Every Friday when school is in session, we will have a time of prayer in the chapel from 7 to 7:50 am. If you cannot make it, it doesn’t matter when you pray or where you pray; it matters whether you pray. So join in at the Lord’s prompting and as your schedule allows.
During these times of prayer, we will have different people leading to share the responsibility across the campus.
- The first Friday of each month will be led by a member of Cabinet.
- The second Friday of each month will be led by Dr. Mach or a member of the Academic Division.
- The third Friday of each month will be led by Dr. Melson or a member of the Advancement Division.
- The fourth Friday of each month will be led by Dr. Wood or a member of the Student Life and Christian Ministries Division.
At our first meeting, we had a great turnout. I would estimate that we had about 70 people in attendance. The numbers do not matter, as our desire is simply to provide an opportunity for those who desire to be there to pray together. We may have a different emphasis each week depending on the person leading the effort, and of course anyone may pray for anything as the Lord leads.
Part of the point is to humble ourselves before the Lord, recognizing that He alone is sovereign above all. As you are able, join in asking that God would send revival to our campus. We will also develop a consistent place for prayer this year on campus, and as we work together, Lord willing, we will develop a “cross-campus” culture of prayer. I consider it a high honor to serve King Jesus alongside you, and I look forward to seeing what God does this year on campus.
In Christ Alone,
