6 The voice said, “Cry out!”
And he said, “What shall I cry?”
“All flesh is grass,
And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades,
Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.”
There is a moment in your life when you’ll desire to know what is real and what matters. You may go for a long walks, look for majestic mountains to climb or long for incredible sunsets. Then you may realize that everything is real. The things you see and can touch and can smell. Yet even though everything is real, not everything is strong enough to last. Something’s won’t even make it out of the season. So proud of the incredible sunflowers we grew from seed, only to see one day after this photograph the yellow finches in our yard landed delicately on the sunflowers and picked the seeds off of them one by one and left the flower withering. To think that we live just as fragile as that flower! The momentary joy of looking at the beauty of the flowers was replaced with a visible reminder of these verses in Isaiah 40. Man is strong, but God is stronger! The Word of our God stands forever! What a great encouragement of what matters!
