National Library Week

National Library Week 2015 runs from April 13-17

Today marks the beginning of National Library Week 2015. You can celebrate at the Centennial Library with activities, displays, prizes, and food.

“The American Library Association’s theme for National Library Week 2015 is ‘Unlimited Possibilities @ Your Library’. This is definitely true at Cedarville University’s Centennial Library,” said Julie Deardorff, Director of Library Collection Services. “The Centennial Library provides the resources that students need to be successful in their courses and to develop as productive members of society. Beyond just the resources, however, are the Centennial Library staff and librarians who are available to provide the assistance and training that students need to use the library’s resources effectively. Make sure that you are taking full advantage of what the library has to offer. Ask someone at the library for more information today!”

On Monday and Tuesday from 2-4pm, we are having an open house featuring snacks, a chance to add a note about what you like about the library to our I Love My Library! board, and opportunities to interact with our Digital Commons. We are also featuring an exhibit of a collaborative project between this semester’s American Women Writers class and the Centennial Library exploring the life and writings of Cedarville resident Martha E. McMillan.

We will also be running a contest involving library-related activities, like checking out a book or visiting our table at the CU World Fair To get started, pick up a contest card at our library table at the CU World Fair on Monday, April 13, or at the library anytime during National Library Week.   If you complete 5 out of the 9 activities listed on the card, and turn your card in at the library by Friday, April 17, you will be eligible for our prize drawing!

Josh Michael, Director of Public Services, said, “We hope through National Library Week to engage our patrons in a fun way and highlight some of the things going on at the library.  Oh, and recognize our library staff too!”
