As you think about coming to Cedarville you may wonder, in the midst of balancing your social life, academics and sleep schedule, “How am I going to find a job as a student?” Many freshmen arrive at Cedarville looking for jobs, but they don’t always take time to think of the importance of finding balance when it comes to finding jobs! As a student I have found it really important to consider these three factors when determining your part-time job opportunities as a full-time student: plan, pay, and pertinence!
Plan: You have to make a realistic plan that aligns with your schedule: Are you really going to wake up at the crack of dawn for work or would an evening shift work better for you? It is also important to understand if a certain job would not be beneficial to aspects of your academic life (i.e., a heavy semester workload). In that case, it may be wise to seek a less-demanding job.
Pay: Some advice a mentor of mine gave me when I approached him with the desire to pursue a part-time job was this: “Are you working for passion or pay?” Make sure you aren’t sacrificing one over the other. Look for a job that you are passionate about but aligns with your financial needs.
Pertinence: How relevant is this job to your chosen career path? Is it just a part-time job to make ends meet or to fuel your coffee fund? It’s always a good idea to find a job that can help you along your career path (never underestimate the power of a perfectly placed internship position!)
Cedarville University offers a wide range of student employment opportunities. My friends and I have worked a variety of part-time jobs and internships while at Cedarville. Some have been baristas, others librarians, and one has fixed my broken laptop more times than I care to admit. Here are some jobs that are available for students who are seeking employment opportunities while attending Cedarville University:

Students who are interested in flexible work schedules and a way to make a paycheck, look no further than Pioneer Food Services at Cedarville! The dining hall (AKA Chuck’s), Stinger’s, and Tossed and Chick-Fil-A are fantastic places to work (with shifts available from sunup to sundown and bi-weekly installments).
Information Technology Center

With its goal to aid the University with computer-related resources in information delivery, the Tech center offers employment opportunities to students who are inclined to working with a focus in customer service and technology assistance. With Flexible work schedules, paid training, and the ability to work around campus in either Tyler, the BTS, or ENS, the Tech Center is a perfect fit for computer savvy students (also, who doesn’t like driving around campus in a golf cart?).
Campus Experience

Student Life Programs provides students with events, programs, leadership development, and opportunities for involvement. Student employment opportunities include SCAB positions (setting up and tearing down equipment after events), STING leaders/director of operations (helping incoming freshmen feel welcomed into our community), and even baristas at our campus favorite Rinnova!
Library

The Centennial Library is not only the perfect place to study with friends or find information for research papers, but it is an ideal spot to find employment while at Cedarville. Whether it’s printing projects in the MediaPLEX, organizing puppets and picture books in the Curriculum Materials Center, or greeting library patrons with a friendly smile and informative direct, the library is a great place to find employment (even offering grants and scholarships for student employees and those considering making a career out of Library Science).
Feel free to ask students what jobs they are working! You’d be surprised to hear about job opportunities that you may have never even heard of! There is never a lack of employment opportunities while attending Cedarville University, and our faculty members are always looking to help you find the perfect job that can pave a way for your career path. Have no fear of finding a job at Cedarville, the job opportunities as a student are truly endless.
