I chose to attend Cedarville as a\u00a0senior in high school because I wanted to spend the next four years of my life growing closer to Christ. I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0know what that would look like but had complete peace that Cedarville is where I needed to be.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, as a senior\u00a0<\/span>professional\u00a0writing and\u00a0information\u00a0design major<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0seeing that\u00a0my time\u00a0at\u00a0Cedarville\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0just grow me closer to the Lord\u00a0\u2014 it\u00a0transformed my outlook to view life through a biblical perspective.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you are looking forward to starting your own time at Cedarville soon or are already partway through your\u00a0<\/span>1000 Days<\/span><\/a>, I hope these three tips will help you make the most of the spiritual growth\u00a0opportunities\u00a0you\u2019ll\u00a0find here!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tip #1:\u00a0Invest In Your Bible Classes\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

At\u00a0Cedarville,\u00a0<\/span>every student takes\u00a0a Bible minor<\/span><\/a>. Within the minor,\u00a0you take\u00a0five Bible classes to grow your knowledge of God\u2019s\u00a0Word and how to apply it\u00a0to your lie. This is something that\u00a0<\/span>distinguishes Cedarville from many universities<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and something that is worthwhile to invest in\u00a0during your time here.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My favorite class in the minor was\u00a0<\/span>Theology 1<\/span><\/a>\u00a0with Dr. Arnold. He\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0just lecture to us about theology;\u00a0he gave us the freedom to think through the content and learn from\u00a0historical church figures. This class taught me how to think critically about\u00a0Scripture and how to defend what I believe.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the other\u00a0<\/span>Bible minor courses<\/span><\/a>, I learned how to view the Bible as one overarching Gospel story. They challenged me to go deeper in my studies and take the time to\u00a0think through\u00a0the historical, theological, and\u00a0personal\u00a0implications\u00a0of what I was reading. Not only did\u00a0the Bible minor teach me\u00a0how to interpret\u00a0Scripture,\u00a0but\u00a0I was\u00a0also\u00a0encouraged to make studying it\u00a0a regular part of my life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cedarville also offers\u00a0additional\u00a0biblical\u00a0minors,\u00a0in case you would like to go even deeper in your study of\u00a0Scripture. I\u00a0am forever grateful to have\u00a0walked through\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>women\u2019s ministry\u00a0minor<\/span><\/a>. These courses taught me how to be a\u00a0godly woman, how to teach other young women and girls to walk in godliness, and how to faithfully serve in the local church.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tip #2: Join\u00a0A\u00a0Local Church<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Cedarville strongly encourages\u00a0you\u00a0to not only join a local church but serve and have faithful\u00a0fellow\u00a0members pour into you. When I entered Cedarville as a\u00a0freshman,\u00a0I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0understand what it meant to be a part of a church family. I\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0even regularly attending a local church.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0take my first step of obedience until I was in\u00a0my\u00a0<\/span>Bible and the Gospel course<\/span><\/a>. The professor assigned us to attend a local church for a month straight and document what we learned and how attending in person affected our faith. Ever since, I continued to prioritize regular church attendance.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through\u00a0some of\u00a0<\/span>Cedarville\u2019s\u00a0chapel speakers<\/span><\/a>, the Lord<\/span>\u00a0convicted me to go deeper and get plugged into my local church. I then joined their young adult group and started serving\u00a0in the\u00a0women\u2019s and\u00a0children\u2019s ministries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I am forever grateful for Cedarville\u2019s encouragement to begin serving the church during your 1000\u00a0Days. As graduation nears, I feel equipped to faithfully attend and serve my\u00a0next\u00a0local church. Cedarville has transformed me from rarely attending church to a humble servant-leader in the body of Christ.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tip #3: Prepare\u00a0To Use\u00a0Your\u00a0Faith\u00a0in\u00a0the Workplace\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Cedarville has also\u00a0changed my mindset as I am\u00a0<\/span>transitioning\u00a0into my career<\/span><\/a>. I no longer view my occupation as\u00a0just something that I need to do\u00a0each day. I see it as my mission field and opportunity to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Every course in my field taught me to work with excellence and integrity in\u00a0the things\u00a0I do. My professors encouraged us to remember Colossians 3:23,\u00a0which states, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This verse applies to every major and depa<\/span>rtment on campus. Cedarville prepares you to be a light in the way you live your life. During your time here, strive to please the Lord and put your best effort into everything you do.\u00a0<\/span>By simply following the Word, you can live as an example of Christ\u2019s love.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span>\u00a0Communication Connect\u00a0<\/span>student organization<\/span><\/a>\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0involved in on\u00a0campus\u00a0reminds me constantly\u00a0that we are to be the salt and light of the earth. Using what I learned\u00a0at Cedarville, I\u00a0hope to\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0Christ-honoring\u00a0conduct and love for others\u00a0in the workplace\u00a0that will make nonbelievers take notice.\u00a0In your own classes and extracurriculars, be thinking about how what\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0learning will influence your life post-graduation!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You will receive\u00a0daily\u00a0spiritual growth opportunities through your\u00a0Bible minor, local church, friendships, chapel messages,\u00a0and so much more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The day that I decided to choose Cedarville, I had no idea how much\u00a0deeper my faith could grow.
