Hi! My name is MiaRose Hess,\u00a0and I am a sophomore business management student!\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0from Spencer, Indiana.\u00a0I\u00a0am\u00a0so excited\u00a0to bring you along for a typical Wednesday in my life. Hope\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0ready for the ride\u00a0\u2026\u00a0let\u2019s\u00a0go!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting My Day Right<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

I typically get up around 7:15-ish to give myself time to get ready. Sometimes I listen to music, but lately\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0been listening to audiobooks. I will\u00a0also\u00a0check\u00a0The Daily Buzz, which is a campus newsletter sent out every weekday\u00a0telling students about what is happening around campus.\u00a0On Wednesdays,\u00a0I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have class until 9\u00a0a.m., so I typically spend some time reading the Bible or meeting\u00a0my friend Karis\u00a0for coffee (or smoothies in my case!) at\u00a0Rinnova,\u00a0our campus coffee shop.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

At 9 a.m., I head to\u00a0my managerial accounting class\u00a0with Professor Garrison. Then, after class gets out, I head to\u00a0chapel! This has been the most transformational part of my Cedarville journey. I enjoy taking a break from\u00a0the busyness\u00a0and resting with fellow believers. I have sat in the same spot since\u00a0freshman\u00a0year with\u00a0my friends\u00a0Chloe and\u00a0Santija, and the original trio has grown as others have joined\u00a0us! Chapel typically starts with a worship\u00a0portion\u00a0that leads\u00a0into\u00a0the message. Currently, my favorite\u00a0chapels are\u00a0Dr. White\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>MARKed\u00a0by Jesus\u00a0series.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Business Classes and Faculty Mentors<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have class during the 11\u00a0a.m.\u00a0hour every day, so\u00a0I\u2019ll\u00a0grab lunch with a friend. My favorite on-campus dining\u00a0option\u00a0is Chick-Fil-A because of their frosted lemonades, but The Commons (the dining hall) offers a good variety of food.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At 12 pm, I have\u00a0New\u00a0Testament with Dr. Couser. Every Cedarville graduate will leave with a minor in\u00a0Bible\u00a0includes\u00a0five\u00a0Bible\u00a0classes. After\u00a0New Testament, I go straight to Intro to Entrepreneurship with Dr.\u00a0Oberbrunner\u00a0at 1\u00a0p.m.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0I cannot express the impact\u00a0that\u00a0my faculty members\u00a0have\u00a0had on my academic journey and personal life!\u00a0For instance, my academic advisor\u00a0(shoutout\u00a0to\u00a0Professor Leo!)\u00a0does\u00a0a great job\u00a0encouraging me to do my best. Coming out of high school, I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0really know what I wanted to do,\u00a0so I chose business management, thinking it would give me the most opportunities. Almost two years into this degree, Cedarville has given me the hard and soft skills needed to succeed in and outside of the classroom. With the help of Dr.\u00a0Oberbrunner, I was\u00a0even\u00a0able to start my own business, The Bagel Girl. I also used my experiences in\u00a0an\u00a0internship over the past summer. Because of the Fall Career Fair, I was able to meet potential employers and ended up getting an\u00a0internship opportunity for summer\u00a02026.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have any classes at 2\u00a0p.m., so I will either go back to my dorm in McKinney, where my roommate Isa and I live, or\u00a0work on homework in\u00a0the Scharnberg Business and Communication\u00a0Center. My go-to-study spot is the high tables by the large windows\u00a0that\u00a0overlook the lake.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

My On-Campus Job and Evening Activities\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

From 3\u20135\u00a0p.m., I work in the Career Services office. During my shift, I met with Will Galkin to discuss\u00a0our office\u2019s partnership with\u00a0the Synergy Initiative, a church planting\u00a0organization\u00a0on campus.\u00a0After the meeting, I will work on office tasks or work on my peer r\u00e9sum\u00e9\u00a0reviewer training.\u00a0Sometimes, I will help peers with mock interviews or setting up their LinkedIn profiles. Lately,\u00a0my\u00a0shifts\u00a0have\u00a0consisted of preparing\u00a0for the\u00a0Spring\u00a0and Education Career Fair.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After my shift, I go straight to\u00a0microeconomics\u00a0tutoring\u00a0with my tutor, Marcos,\u00a0for\u00a0my next\u00a0class or the quiz.\u00a0This peer tutoring resource\u00a0is\u00a0offered through\u00a0The Cove, Cedarville\u2019s academic enrichment center. I encourage everyone to check out\u00a0The Cove\u00a0before classes start!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After tutoring, I\u00a0grab\u00a0dinner at The Commons with\u00a0my friend\u00a0Chloe.\u00a0In the evening, I meet\u00a0my\u00a0friends\u00a0Addie, Avah, and Karis to do homework either in the dorm or the business building computer lab. Depending on the day, I\u00a0might\u00a0have meetings, sports games,\u00a0or\u00a0Bible study with a friend or\u00a0discipleship group. I am the secretary of the Cedarville University Investment Club and a member of a few other clubs. Finally, I start winding down for bed around 11:30\u00a0p.m.,\u00a0meditating\u00a0on the Word\u00a0or\u00a0praying\u00a0if I\u00a0didn’t\u00a0get to it\u00a0earlier\u00a0and hit the hay by midnight.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
