There are many joys that come with the\u00a0big move to college,\u00a0but it can still be an\u00a0overwhelming experience. However, as\u00a0the\u00a0newness and\u00a0chaos of the first semester\u00a0abates, things quickly start to feel settled. As the time goes on, you will find that Cedarville becomes a home away from home.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So how is Cedarville different after that first semester?\u00a0Following your first semester at Cedarville, you will find yourself knowing your way around campus, you will gain your confidence academically, you will find yourself greeted by many familiar faces around campus, and you will find yourself in love with your new home!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Difference #1:\u00a0You Know Where\u00a0You\u2019re\u00a0Going<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

When you first move into Cedarville, it can be quite\u00a0confusing trying\u00a0to navigate your way around campus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All of\u00a0<\/span>the abbreviations<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(SSC, BTS, ENS, etc.) can\u00a0feel\u00a0difficult\u00a0to memorize.\u00a0All of\u00a0the buildings seem to\u00a0blend\u00a0together. Which of those buildings is Apple? Which of those buildings is Milner?\u00a0Where even\u00a0is Johnson Hall?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With just a little bit of time and experience venturing throughout campus, you will begin to feel like an expert who confidently knows the best routes to class and the fastest way to the SSC from your dorm room.\u00a0Who knows, maybe you\u2019ll even be able to navigate your way through\u00a0all of\u00a0the interconnected hallways in the ENS!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Difference #2:\u00a0You Gain Your Confidence Academically<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

One of the biggest worries students have when coming to college is whether they will be able to\u00a0handle the\u00a0academic workload that comes with a college degree. Although each semester is different in its workload and pressures,\u00a0you will grow each semester in your\u00a0sense of confidence in your ability to get the work done and do it well.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You will get a feel for how you best function as a student,\u00a0develop routines that work best for you,\u00a0<\/span>find study habits<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that allow you to do your best work, and find out where your academic strengths and weaknesses lie.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though it can certainly be daunting to face a college workload for the first time, with a little experience and some time spent putting into practice the strategies that you learn in your first semester, you will be navigating your work like a professional!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Difference #3:\u00a0You\u00a0Keep Seeing\u00a0Familiar Faces Around Campus<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

I remember one of the big stressors plaguing me when I first moved to Cedarville was that there\u00a0were\u00a0new and unfamiliar faces everywhere I went.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When you first move to college,\u00a0a majority of those you are encountering on a\u00a0day-to-day\u00a0basis will be complete strangers.\u00a0While this\u00a0can be exciting, especially for those who lean more toward the extroverted side,\u00a0it can also be uncomfortable\u00a0for those who\u00a0are more\u00a0introverted.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the more time you spend on Cedarville\u2019s campus, the more\u00a0those\u00a0faces find names and personalities to match them. And\u00a0<\/span>these new friends<\/span><\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0arguably one\u00a0of the best parts of the Cedarville experience!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Difference #4:\u00a0You Find Yourself Falling\u00a0in Love\u00a0With\u00a0Your New Home<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Not everyone will fall in love with Cedarville the moment they step on campus.\u00a0It takes time to get used to living somewhere new.\u00a0However,\u00a0as time goes by,\u00a0I would also argue that it is\u00a0very hard\u00a0for one to avoid falling in love with this special place.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I know I am\u00a0definitely biased, but I would\u00a0say\u00a0that Cedarville is one of the most amazing places that I have ever\u00a0been. It is not necessarily the cornfields, the lake, the amazing courses, the phenomenal professors, or the fruitful friendships that\u00a0<\/span>make Cedarville a home<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to so many;\u00a0it is God\u2019s presence and work that is taking place in and through His people.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

God is using Cedarville to further His kingdom and proclaim His glory among the nations, and Cedarville students\u00a0are able to\u00a0experience the sweetness of these truths as they take part in God\u2019s mission and receive training to go forth from this place and do just that.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While few will make Cedarville their permanent home on\u00a0Earth, Cedarville is a temporary home to so many students,\u00a0and it is hard to not absolutely fall in love with this place for however long it is that God will have\u00a0you\u00a0at Cedarville.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first semester at college can\u00a0sometimes be confusing or overwhelming. However, as you take each day step-by-step, every\u00a0day will\u00a0get\u00a0more enjoyable and rewarding. Each day, you will find Cedarville\u00a0is becoming\u00a0your home away from home, a sweet place of growth and encouragement in the Lord.
