This past January, I realized how quickly time is passing. As a\u00a0junior\u00a0Professional Writing and\u00a0information\u00a0Design major at Cedarville University, my days are filled with classes, homework, coffee dates with friends, spontaneous adventures, fulfilling discipleship, and\u00a0personal time with the Lord.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Amid the busyness, I tend to become distracted by immediate responsibilities and pressures, neglecting to\u00a0participate\u00a0in\u00a0important causes and opportunities to stand up for what I believe in. In His great grace, the Lord\u00a0gave me the\u00a0chance\u00a0to\u00a0attend\u00a0an event\u00a0and stand\u00a0up for a\u00a0cause\u00a0close\u00a0to my heart: the right to life.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Let the Rally Begin<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Feet numb, tummies\u00a0rumbling,\u00a0the crowd waited in restless anticipation for the rally to begin. From all over the world, tens of thousands of people gathered\u00a0on\u00a0the green space of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., united in support of one belief \u2014 the sanctity of life.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Around 60 Cedarville University students,<\/span><\/a>\u00a0along with the University’s Students for Life chapter leaders, were blessed to\u00a0participate\u00a0in this important event. As one of the group\u00a0members\u00a0from Cedarville, I was able to\u00a0witness\u00a0firsthand the impact and significance of\u00a0the March\u00a0for Life.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As a Christian,\u00a0I believe that life\u00a0is a gift from God and that\u00a0it’s\u00a0my responsibility to stand up for and protect those who are unable to stand up for\u00a0and protect\u00a0themselves (Proverbs 31:8\u20139; Psalm 82:3). However, this task\u00a0can sometimes\u00a0seem\u00a0extremely overwhelming and\u00a0challenging in a world that actively fights to strip the right to life away from those who are unable to\u00a0defend\u00a0themselves.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As we made the eight-hour drive through the night from Cedarville to D.C., I was encouraged and inspired by the passion\u00a0of\u00a0the students around me.\u00a0Stumbling\u00a0off the bus when we arrived in D.C. at 10\u00a0a.m., bleary-eyed and wrinkled,\u00a0our group experienced\u00a0a\u00a0humble sense of awe. For some, seeing D.C. was a brand-new experience,\u00a0while for\u00a0others (like me),\u00a0this was a return\u00a0to the vibrant and historically rich city for a new adventure.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While the rally\u00a0prior to the march\u00a0was an amazing opportunity to\u00a0worship and\u00a0hear\u00a0inspiring speeches from influential leaders in the pro-life movement, the main attraction was the march itself.\u00a0I remember vividly the adrenaline surge and\u00a0renewed sense of excitement as we were led from the rally to join the massive, enthusiastic crowd on the street in front of the Natural History Museum. As we began slowly marching through the streets of D.C., the smells, sights, and sounds of the city attacking\u00a0our\u00a0senses, I took a moment to reflect on the beauty of\u00a0so many people from all different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, and religions gathering in support of life.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lasting\u00a0Effect<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

This wonderful experience\u00a0impacted\u00a0my life and faith in so many ways. The most significant thing I learned through participating in\u00a0the March\u00a0for Life is that there is hope\u00a0for the unborn.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0There is hope in our communities, in our leaders, and in the country.\u00a0Most importantly,\u00a0we can\u00a0hope in God and His promise that one day, He will return and restore life\u00a0and save those\u00a0who call upon His name (Romans 10:13).\u00a0But right now, while waiting for the fulfillment of that promise, we have a duty\u00a0to walk in humble obedience and love one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Marching as one, the people of America\u00a0joined hands in unity, stood up for the weak, gave a voice to the voiceless, and proclaimed that we are the pro-life generation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
