\u00a0When coming to Cedarville,\u00a0one of my goals was to go on a\u00a0<\/span>Global Outreach<\/span><\/a>\u00a0missions\u00a0trip to wherever God opened a door for me to\u00a0go. He opened a door for me to go to Nicaragua and serve\u00a0His people there.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I\u00a0chose Nicaragua simply because there was an opened door to go,\u00a0and I wanted to reflect what\u00a0the Great Commission says: We are to\u00a0go and make\u00a0disciples. When the opportunity came up again to\u00a0go\u00a0this spring\u00a0break,\u00a0I\u00a0immediately\u00a0said yes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Since I have gone\u00a0before, the idea of preparation looked a little different\u00a0this time.\u00a0This time, we prioritized\u00a0our time\u00a0connecting\u00a0together as a team\u00a0before\u00a0the trip.\u00a0I\u00a0also\u00a0spent more time praying for this trip,\u00a0knowing that God can do\u00a0powerful\u00a0things\u00a0through us.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0With it being an international trip\u00a0to a\u00a0Spanish-speaking country, I also spent time practicing basic words and concepts of the Spanish language\u00a0so I could\u00a0have interactions with the Nicaraguan people\u00a0in their language. The Lord has provided me with the funds and the means to go,\u00a0and I\u00a0wanted to\u00a0take the time\u00a0to\u00a0prepare well for His glory.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Serving in Jinotega: Teaching, Building, and Daily Life<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Upon arrival,\u00a0we stayed at\u00a0Jinotega,\u00a0a\u00a0large\u00a0city within Nicaragua\u00a0that\u00a0lies in a valley.\u00a0We\u00a0resided\u00a0in the city and walked everywhere.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Our teams\u00a0primarily\u00a0focused on teaching and leading the students\u00a0at\u00a0our partnering school within the classroom.\u00a0This time,\u00a0there was also a team, including myself, that focused on the construction of their new school building! The school has continued to\u00a0grow,\u00a0and they\u00a0need\u00a0a new building to house their first class of high schoolers.\u00a0Praise God!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Half the time focused\u00a0on teaching,\u00a0while the other half focused on the construction of their new school.\u00a0Specifically,\u00a0within the construction team, we\u00a0were responsible for\u00a0painting the whole first floor of the school building.\u00a0We did lots of\u00a0painting!\u00a0Once evening\u00a0hit,\u00a0we would come back together to debrief and\u00a0connect as a team.\u00a0This is when\u00a0we reflected on how God was moving through the trip.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

God at Work: Lives Changed on and off the Construction Site<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0God worked through this experience specifically within the construction workers that the guys and I\u00a0interacted with. After building\u00a0relationships with the construction workers over the course of the week, which was already hard enough with the language barrier, we were able to lead\u00a0six\u00a0construction workers\u00a0to Christ!\u00a0Praise God!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Lord most definitely worked through us,\u00a0as we were able to share the Gospel with the construction workers and planted seeds in many others lives, even giving\u00a0the construction workers the Gospel of John in Spanish. Construction was the main goal\u00a0of this part of our\u00a0team,\u00a0but the relationships we built during that time were invaluable and eternal relationships that the Lord worked through.\u00a0Not only was I able to see how the Lord\u00a0impacted\u00a0lives here,\u00a0but the trip also forever\u00a0changed me.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What God Taught Me Through the Unexpected<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Throughout the week, the Lord taught me that He works in ways that might not make sense to us in the moment, but looking back down the road,\u00a0He is faithful and will provide when we put our faith and trust in Him. Our missionary contact, Stuart,\u00a0embodied this so well.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Lord also taught me that I can have joy in every circumstance,\u00a0good or bad! The people of Nicaragua\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0this very well and encouraged me in this area of my walk!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Call\u00a0To\u00a0Go: Why You Should Consider a GO Trip<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0For those considering going on a\u00a0GO\u00a0trip,\u00a0they are\u00a0life-changing experiences,\u00a0and after my first time to Nicaragua, I had to go back. Cedarville provides so many great opportunities to\u00a0be the hands and feet of God as we\u00a0go and make\u00a0disciples.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I would\u00a0encourage\u00a0those considering\u00a0a trip to have\u00a0the\u00a0heart\u00a0posture of\u00a0saying\u00a0to the Lord,\u00a0\u201cHere I am! Send\u00a0me!\u201d\u00a0All\u00a0the GO trips have different goals, roles,\u00a0and\u00a0locations, so find one that would be best suited for you!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Even though all the GO trips are different,\u00a0they all have the same goal\u00a0of advancing the Gospel,\u00a0so any\u00a0trip\u00a0you go on will make a\u00a0Kingdom impact!\u00a0Don\u2019t\u00a0say no to an opportunity to go\u00a0to preserve your\u00a0comfort;\u00a0be willing to step out\u00a0and trust God\u00a0wherever He sends you!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
