Hello! My name is Mickey Neal, and I want to share what the Lord has laid on my heart for Cedarville students choosing to live a missionally-oriented life.

This past summer, I got the unique opportunity to serve the people of Salt Lake City, Utah, through Global Outreach. The reason I chose to go there? Over a million people live in the Salt Lake Valley, yet only around 2.3% of them are evangelical Christians.
This means that, by percentage, there are fewer evangelical Christians in certain cities in the Salt Lake Valley than there are in North Korea.
That’s a problem. It’s a problem because Salt Lake isn’t a place where you’re killed for your faith. It’s not even a place that’s opposed to the Gospel. I can tell you firsthand that this place is ripe for harvest, yet so few are going.
Everyone at Cedarville is going to graduate with a Bible minor. That means that we will understand the Gospel better than half of the Christians in our nation when we graduate. Yet many of us are ignorant about the reality that places like Salt Lake City are spiritual deserts. We have the water to give them, but the truth is that some of us are choosing comfort over need when we leave Cedarville.
My time in Salt Lake was not unique. You have heard that that Pittsburgh is 5% evangelical. You know that Syracuse is 3% evangelical and that Boston is 2% evangelical. You probably know that Denver, Colorado, has one of the highest rates of homelessness and depression in our nation.
My friends, these are our neighbors. These cities are merely a few hours away, and they are in desperate need of the Gospel. The question is this: What’s stopping you from going?
