We have been blessed in many ways as we continue to educate students to use nursing as ministry for Christ. The greatest blessing is our amazing students! This fall we had record undergraduate student enrollment of 500. With all these students are challenges, but more importantly they bring energy, passion, a desire to learn and serve, and future nurses impacting people in a variety of ways for the Kingdom.
Here are some recent highlights from our undergraduate program:
- We’ve experienced a simulation explosion, with an increased awareness and presence from sophomore through senior levels.
- The Cross Cultural Nursing minor is undergoing a revision to meet the needs of our students and allow for ministry here in our own backyard as well as internationally.
- Our faculty have partnered with students in volunteering with Shoes 4 the Shoeless right here in Springfield.
- We have implemented a Student Success initiative for the purpose of meeting the diverse needs of our students, including early identification and intervention for academically at-risk students, and monitoring for clinical compliance, which becomes increasingly complex.
One of our greatest blessings is our faculty members, who bring a wide array of abilities and continue to build into students as they model excellence. We also have grown in the area of adjunct instructors and could not do what we do without them in the clinical setting. As you have read this update, I hope you sense our thanksgiving for all God has given us, and see areas where you can pray and contribute to our endeavors.
