Last night I went to the Creation Museum and attended the world premiere of a most remarkable film in a packed Legacy Hall: Is Genesis History?  The film features Dr. Del Tackett (of The Truth Project) who interviews Christian scholars about the historical accuracy of Genesis.  The film opens with Del walking on the world’s newest landscape around the Mt. St. Helens volcano.  He sets the stage by causing us to consider the deep canyons around the mountain and how they were only recently carved into the bedrock.  If we had not been an eyewitness to the catastrophic processes that cut the canyons overnight, we probably would not have been able to guess that the canyons had formed quickly.  The film then moves to Grand Canyon where Del interviews Dr. Steve Austin (who is currently teaching our Petrology course at CU) about how the Canyon was cut, how the rock layers in the Canyon formed (including the Coconino Sandstone!) and the significance of things like the Great Unconformity.  The film continues as Del interviews various scholars at iconic sites around the world including Drs. Kurt Wise, Andrew Snelling, Marcus Ross, Todd Wood, Rob Carter, Steve Boyd, Art Chadwick, Danny Faulkner and Paul Nelson.  I was impressed that the film addressed so many facets of young age creation including radioactive dating, starlight and time, evolution and genetic change, the Hebrew text of Genesis, paleontology, dinosaurs and archaeology all within a backdrop of stunning photography.  The film did not bash evolution but instead featured distinguished scholars who believe that the earth is young and that Genesis is real history.  I would encourage all Christians to go see this film because it will strengthen your faith in the Word of God and the history contained therein.  It will be in theaters only on February 23.  Consider taking someone along with you to see the film.  This is a fantastic opportunity to begin a stimulating conversation with an unbeliever about spiritual matters or to encourage a young person to pursue a rewarding career in studying Genesis.  You can watch a trailer and purchase tickets by going to the film’s website.

The premiere was attended by many special guests including Ken Ham, Del Tackett and Thomas Purifoy (director and producer).  Following the showing there was a panel discussion with Del Tackett and some of the scholars featured in the film.
