Apple plans to release a software update (iOS 8) for iPhone, iPad and other iOS devices starting tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, September 17.
Remember Last Year?
When iOS 7 was released last year, Internet disruptions occurred across Ohio college campuses, and nationwide. Information technology hopes to avoid that disruption and speed up your download experience by offering a new way of updating your iOS device to iOS 8.
Connect, Download and Update
Starting Wednesday afternoon, you will see a new (temporary) Cedarville wireless network named iOS-Update. When you are prompted to update your iPhone or iPad to iOS 8, perform the following steps:
1. View Available Wireless Networks on your device.
2. Connect to the iOS-Update wireless network.
3. Download and then Install the iOS 8 update from the Settings of your device.
4. Disconnect from the iOS-Update network.
5. Reconnect to cu-secure wireless.
Information Technology anticipates that the iOS-Update wireless network will be available for one week or less depending on network traffic.
If you need additional assistance with your iOS device, please visit the TechStop center between 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekdays (located through an external door on the north side of the Tyler Digital Communication Center).
