Cedarville graduate Scott Deetz has served as the Cedarville IT department’s Senior Audio Video Specialist for the past seven years. Before that, he worked in AV services for twelve years in the Centennial Library. Scott graduated from Cedarville College with a degree in broadcasting, specializing in broadcast production. Today, Scott still enjoys the Cedarville experience. “It is a great honor to work with such great people,” he said. Scott designs spaces on campus to best fit the technology it needs. In fact, he has had his hand in every Cedarville classroom and lab.

Scott lives in Dayton with his wife of almost 22 years, Lisa. Scott has what he likes to call the “statistically perfect” family, a wife, a son, a daughter, and a pet (a four-legged Victorian bulldog named Cotton).  Scott loves to lead his life group on Sunday mornings at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Xenia.  While Scott’s hobbies once included collecting Star Trek memorabilia and business cards, today he spends his free time “throwing lead down range” (aka going to the shooting range with his kids).

Scott encourages Cedarville students pursuing a career in AV-Technical Services to complete an internship. As a student, Scott interned at a small Christian TV station in Illinois where he learned a lot about broadcast and production. After graduation, Scott landed a job at the same TV station. He said, “Without the internship, I would not have had the career track I have had for the past 27 years.” In addition to interning, Scott encourages students to join AV groups on LinkedIn. Through these groups, students can ask questions and learn about new equipment and processes.
