Three times a year, we offer students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to request a change in their CedarNet user name (login name). Reasons for requesting a change would include desiring a shorter login name or to reflect a change in your last name (via marriage or some other legal action).
The CedarInfo transaction for requesting a login name change is “Change your user name (login name)” which is located under the “PROFILE” heading. The deadline for requesting changes this semester is Saturday, December 14. The actual changes will be made on the morning of Monday, December 17. The changes will take a few hours to process through all of our systems, so people whose user names are being changed may not have access to some resources that morning.
The next open period for requesting a change will be at the end of the spring semester, so if you are anticipating a change in your legal name before then you should consider requesting a change in your user name now.
Once a user name is changed, we will maintain an alias for the old email address for a period of six months. During this time incoming email sent to the old address and the new address will be delivered. After six months, only the new email address will be valid.
