As was communicated on March 19, the Information Technology Network Team is migrating the printers connected to Cedarville’s network to a new print server. This migration will provide better performance and easier installation of network printers.
The Network Team has completed the migration to the new print server and has begun to deploy the new printers to your computers. You should see the new printer objects in the next few days. You can check to confirm the printers you need are installed on your computer over the next few days using the following instructions:
- Windows users: From the Start menu, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners. The new printer objects can be distinguished from the old ones by looking at the end of the name. Printers on the new system will end in “on print-facstaff” instead of “on printshop2.”
- Mac users: If you use a University-owned Mac or MacBook computer, you will be contacted directly by a member of IT during this transition.
If you do not see the printers you need, you can install them yourself by following the instructions in this link: Install Network Printers or Copiers (Faculty/Staff Only). The old printer objects (with “on printshop2” in their names) will be removed from your computers next week starting Monday, April 1. To minimize disruption to your productivity, please begin using the new printer objects and let us know if you need any additional printers installed before then.
If you have any questions or concerns about this upcoming work, or if you need assistance with some of the instructions, please submit a ServeCU request at this link:Printing: Report a Problem/Request Help.
Network Maintenance in Academic Buildings
The Network Team will perform maintenance on the academic building networks around campus on Wednesday, March 27, from 5-6 a.m. This may cause a momentary outage for wired networks in academic buildings during that time.
