We are experiencing an increased number of University accounts becoming compromised by scammers, resulting in mass phishing and scam emails. The phishing email messages are becoming more frequent and more sophisticated than ever in an attempt to compromise your accounts and steal your personal information.
It is very important to know how to identify a phishing attempt and avoid falling victim to it. Check out this article by the National Cybersecurity Alliance and this video from Microsoft Support to learn more about identifying phishing email messages and how to stay safe from these scams.
Remember: If you suspect an email message is a scam or a phishing attempt, DO NOT click on any links, open any attachments in the message, or reply to it.
Forward it to phishing@cedarville.edu. IT resources will investigate the message and provide further instructions if needed.
