How the Gospel is Being Spread:

A lack of accessible education 📖 is a major issue in Rwanda. While the education system in Rwanda has grown tremendously over the past 30 years, many children struggle to attain and maintain enrollment in school 🏫. Dropping out of school is one of the biggest reasons children in Rwanda end up as child laborers, child soldiers, and suffer other atrocities.

Some of the most common reasons children drop out of school are because of low household income, lack of parental interest, and domestic chores. Gender discrimination also contributes to many young girls dropping out of school, with most of them never returning.

Organizations that provide vocational training help these children stay in school and receive an education so they can provide for themselves and their families. Many of these are Christian organizations ✝️ that focus on spiritual discipleship and training along with vocational training. Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” This verse highlights a foundational truth for all people—that true knowledge begins with reverence for God. These children need to learn about the God who saves and brings hope 🕊️ to hopeless situations, even more than they need academic education. To learn about how you can become involved in the spiritual and vocational training of children in Rwanda, check out the organizations below.

Fun Facts About Rwanda:

  • The baby gorilla🦍 naming ceremonyKwita Izina, takes place every year on September 1st.
