How the Gospel is Spread in the Dominican Republic:
The Dominican Republic is a significant destination for Christian missions due to its religious demographics and socio-economic challenges. With 60% of the population identifying as Roman Catholics and 22% living in poverty, the country presents both spiritual and humanitarian needs. Many Christians around the world travel to the Dominican Republic on mission trips, providing medical aid, disaster relief, and hope to the hurting. However, international volunteers aren’t the only ones working to bring this poverty struck country to Christ. The Spanish World Ministries strives “To assist local churches in the Spanish speaking world, to carry out the ministry of communicating the Gospel of Christ, and to edify those who believe.” Along with financially supporting missionaries, this ministry produces and distributes radio programs to spread the Gospel. Spanish World Ministries create media for radio, social media, and streaming on apps, all of which is free to local churches, radio stations, and individuals. Fun Facts About the Dominican Republic:
- The Dominican Republic flag is the only flag in the world that displays a Bible verse in the coat of arms.
- One of the most popular dishes in the Dominican Republic, Mangú, is made from boiled plantains (Mangú Facts for Kids) and is commonly eaten with pickled onions, fried eggs, fried Dominican salami, and fried cheese.
Hint to Next Week’s Location:
A land where ancient stories bloom,
Where prophets walked and kings met doom.
Where deserts stretch beneath the sun,
And holy sites are never done.
A sea that’s called both red and dead,
Where wisdom’s roots have long been spread.
A city sacred, both old and new,
Where history whispers and faith is true.
