Congrats to Ashley Pichea, Alan McCain, and Noah Lukinovich for guessing correctly first! We’re keeping track of who answers and have a prize waiting for all of you
This week, we’re taking a look through the different models of ChatGPT: Instant, Thinking, and Pro. These mode options make up a precision screwdriver set in your digital toolbox. You can choose which one to use based on your situation.
Helpful Articles:
- OpenAI – About ChatGPT 5.5
- A few sections of this article from OpenAI outline what the Instant, Thinking, and Pro models do and offer some scenarios for each. There are a few sections related to credits and usage limits, but Cedarville already has specifications.
- CU AI Resource Hub
- This page contains a prompt library full of ideas submitted to put into Chat. They’re organized by categories, and when you select a prompt, it tells you what the desired outcome should be, the time it saves, and the intended audience.
Tool from the Maker: His Precision
- Proverbs 16:9 tells us that though we may plan things in our hearts and minds, the Lord is the one who makes the way. Our plans are nothing if we don’t consider God’s perfect precision over our lives.
- Jesus assures us in Matthew 5:18 of the Father’s precise plan. We can know that every part of God’s plan, no matter how minute, will be fully accomplished as he intends.
Chat Hack: TL:DR
If you ever prompt ChatGPT but you feel its response has too much information, simply reply with “TL:DR.” It stands for “Too Long; Didn’t Read.” Chat will summarize its previous reply to a few lines.
Example: Ten sections of information on Golden Age pirate ships turns into 1 line for each ship and four bullet points on what made a good pirate ship for the time.
Note on Chat Models:
- Instant – Use for quick questions, summaries, rewrites, and routine tasks. This super fast model is the cheapest. 💲
- Thinking – Use for analyzing risk, planning, multi-step reasoning, and analyzing scenarios. This more contemplative model is slightly more costly than Instant. 💲💲
- Pro – Use for complex synthesis, high-stakes review, and strategic decisions. This slower-thinking model is the most expensive option. 💲💲💲
If you need certain ChatGPT Edu access, you can ask your supervisor and submit a request to IT for more credits.
